Sunday morning brunch at Belga Cafe the morning after my sister’s engagement. I loved that she was wearing YELLOW with red lipstick! She looked absolutely beautiful. By the way guys if you ever want a really nice brunch please go to Belga Cafe in DC especially on a pretty sunday morning. We had an amazing time.

So this little man is my nephew (naught2shabby)’s son. It is entertaining just to watch him chew on this piece of leaf.
Growing up I had a constant fear of loneliness that never left me. I feared it because I couldn’t understand it. I never knew why one could lose a family or even just a member of it, or why friends could leave you one by one until you’re entirely without anyone. Truly alone, your soul like an empty home. It terrified me. At first I tried to push this emptiness away by surrounding myself with people, but I came to realize the worst kind of loneliness is the kind you feel when surrounded by hundreds. All these thoughts and experiences have led me to believe that you can’t blame anyone for your loneliness except yourself…it comes from you, not from the absence of another. And though that is a troublesome thought it is also hopeful, because it means that you also have it in you to change it. To fill the hole in you.
With really the only thing that can fill it. Simply, love. Love for yourself, god/allah or family, all of it. It sounds cliche I know, but some cliche’s exist for a reason, because in the end we always return to common truths. One being: someone who as it in them to love themselves, can never be truly alone. Because they will always have their own company. They will always have a home within themselves, for themselves. And for any others out there that need one, but cannot find it.
Loneliness gave me this.

Spent the day in DC with Miss Laila. She surprised me by gifting me a special tour through the gallery (best gift ever!). It was even more special when we stopped for lunch at the Co Co. Sala. I enjoyed everything we ordered on the menu including the watermelon feta cheese salad. Then we ended our meal with the three course chocolate appetizer, entry, and dessert. Can we say chocolate overload at Co Co. Mmmmm… delish!
My Favorite part of the Gallery was by Nam June Paik’s electronic highway. It was a brilliant idea how he created the map of the states and used his tv screens to post whatever was relevant to each state. Whenever you guys get the chance you should go check out this exhibit, my favorite so far!! With that aside I enjoyed the beauty of the museum. Felt like I was in a big beautiful castle. All in all every corner and notch had something interesting and beautiful.
